Role Protectors

The Nexus Protectorate proves its authority the only way that can't be faked: not by decree, but by patrols. They hold Helios Nexus — the Expanse's only pulsar — and both doors that seal the Expanse from the wider dark beyond. Against the Corsairs they don't wait at the threshold — their garrison stands a jump past it. Every sector held is a sector the Corsairs cannot work. It is also the order's limit: where presence cannot reach, authority cannot follow — exactly where the deep dark begins.
